Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg apples

  • 1/2 red red onion

  • 1/2 small red chili

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp garam masala

  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice

  • 1 dl apple cider vinegar

  • 1 dl raw sugar

  • pinch of salt

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

Procedure

  1. Peel and chop the apples.

  2. Finely chop the onion and the chili.

  3. Heat the oil in a sauce pan, lower heat and gently fry the onion until translucent.

  4. Add the chili and spices and cook for another minute. Then add the apples, sugar and vinegar. Let this simmer while occasionally stirring until completely soft and mushy. This should take around 30 mins.

  5. Let cool slightly, then transfer to a glass jar. Lasts for at least 2 weeks in the fridge.

  6. Serve with anything from curries and stir-fries to meatballs, fancy cheese or whatever needs a ’lil kick!
